I have tried fresh, frozen and dried Black Eyed Peas. I like the dried best. Some years the stores run low on B.E.Ps so I try to get some a few days in advance. I make the slow soak version, starting them the night before.

There was a big fire in Sag Harbor this morning. The fire encircled the Sag Harbor movie house. We will learn more of the consequences over the next few days.

With a slow start to winter in my garden I have a chance to rebuild the cedar retaining walls that are starting to fail. I have gone with a skim coated concrete block. While at it I opened up better steps to get up out of the pool area.

Yesterday we went apple picking. a few trees had loads of apples. Most did not have any apples this late in the picking season.

Feeding Frenzey

Hard to see at this distance, bait fish are driven to the surface by schools of blue fish. Gulls then dive in and gobble them up. You can just see the splashes.
