This home built in the 1920s has just come on the market. It has not been for sale in a long time. Sitting on the porch here it is hard to imagine a nicer spot to be. 

Adams Family Saga

The Southampton Center located at 25 Jobs Lane has a show about the work of Charles Adams. Adams was a long time resident of the Hamptons. The family trust loaned a fantastic collection of original works showing a range of his works.

All Quiet on the Eastern Front

This week the ocean has been very flat. Yesterday a saw a woman padle boarding on the ocean, almost no surf at all. 

Pre Zoning

I love this imporant shigle beach house.At four stories tall you could not build this home today under present zoning codes that height of new homes.

Wow a classic dune buggy parked in the lot at South Main Beach. There are no dunes for driving on in Southampton, that I know of........

This garden is a perfect jumble of blooms at the tail end of the bloom season.

The water color was just perfect today. 

Details Emerge

When this home was new last year the shingles has not yet turned the classic gray. After a year of weather the shingles have darkened and the white trim deatils are now fully expressed.

Dune Repair

With the aid of snow fence and a good planting of beach grass the dunes seem to be growing back.

On The Move

Cruiser Bikes have been the vogue around the village this summer. Based on bike designs from the '50s & 60's these bikes tend to have a heavier frame, but I nice smooth ride.

Is this a second floor porch or balcony ? Maybe it is both. The gracious arch is an ellipse.

Full Colors

The flag pole at the base of Jobs Lane has a full set of flags to represent all going on in the village.

Holiday Corn

With Halloween the next decorative holiday to plan for I was impressed to see this black corn at Lynch's Garden Ctr. I turns out this plant is actually Millet. What a great look for spooky porches.

Truck Muster

This morning I heard a classic fire siren, not the modern kind that sounds more like a battle from Star Wars. The weekend after Labor Day is the time slot for the annual Southampton Truck Muster, a wonderful show of antique firetrucks and related sport competitions.

Please Pass the Ketchup

This summer we rented to house to a succession of families . For some reason most tenants felt they needed a fresh bottle of Heinz. Not one picked out an alternate brand. Maybe we should have a ketchup party!

Red Sky at Night

The saying- 'Red sky at night, sailor's delight' does not pertain to the setting sun. 
To see the red sky in question, one looks away from the setting sun observing the eastern sky as the sun sets in the west.

Harbor, Cove, Pond

This is Cold Spring Pond in Southampto, I guess Cold Spring Harbor was taken and it's too big to be a cove. The "pond" does open into the Peconic Bay. 

Holiday Car Show

It has been quite a car show this weekend.
