This is a flower bed for cutting, not at all like the Cutting Arboretum also on Long Island.

After the Rain

We did a lot of work on the front garden this spring. The right side got invaded with vines and the roses had to be pulled to get at the weeds. The new hydrangea version is coming into it's own.

Creamy

My big magnolia seems to have liked our mild winter, the tree has many more blooms than in past years.

Big Storm

After a week of dry muggy weather there was a loud bag followed by a sudden down pour of rain. As fast as it started it stopped. There air now seems lighter and maybe the pollen count will be reduced.

Southern Beauty

As the bloom aged it colored like butter browning in a pan. Starting at the edges and filling in.

Classic Cottage Garden

My friend Barbara has what I think of as a cottage garden.

This garden is planted at the foundation of her porch.

The garden is looking very good this season.

The Great Peconic Bay

The bay beach at Cold Spring Point Road near Sebonac Golf Club, host to the Women's PGA next week. I hope they get another sunset like this.

High Water

Local ponds have crept up onto the road after all this rain.

Hand Made Wild

The meadow at the corner of Old Town Road & Wickapogue Road is turning into a fantastic garden as the plants there start to establish. The planting design seems very casual, like one might find in a meadow.

I have shot this potato barn before. It is a true classic for me with its tenders home adjacent.

The Southampton Rose Society has been active adding roses all about Southampton Village. This photo is from yesterday before the new rain.

The day after the rain has passed, our air is often very clear. The fresh sunlight caught this perfect wave.

This critter showed up at the lunch table of my friends house near the water. We boxed him up, then let him go in a local farm field.

This spring has been very good for rhododendron, maybe it was the lack of a deep freeze.

When the ocean is still very cold and the air is warm a hazy comes up along the beach.

Fish Nests

This Sun Fish in Little Fresh Pond has cleared this circle of pond bottom to define his area. Multiple visits to the pond have found him centered on his domain. Other circles can be spotted along the edge on the pond.
