This week I went to Liberty Iron Works to see about a project. Being at the steel yard is very exciting, everything is so solid, hard, dense, strong and cold.

Beach Foam

A work friend hosted a BINGO party tonight. Pot-Luck-Dinner followed by gaming. Our host was  all set with pre-printed cards and special ink markers. A good time was had by all.

The sudden cold snap cleared the air, the sun was very bright.

Melt Down

With the arrival of warmer weather the ice and snow are melting.

Scraps ended up tucked into a snow bank as I got to work on an exciting project for the village.

When I try to take a photos of birds or animals in nature I have great respect for the photography I see on nature shows.

The Next Day

After our string of storms today the beach was very calm. There were a few people at the beach the bright sun seemed to offset the cold temperatures.

Storm Rebound

At about 3:00pm today the next wave of snow from the south hit the east end. It looks like this round will be another 10 inches. This is the first winter I can think of where 4 or 5 layers of snow have fallen without melting off to reveal the lawns. 

Winter Sun Surf

The surf was coming in & the wind was going out cutting up the tops of the waves as they broke.

Stormy Seas

As I was pulling up to the beach I saw huge waves. by the time I had my camera out the sea had calmed a lot. Here we go anyway.

Storm Plans

The weather people think we have another storm coming. In preparation I have set out rings of snow fence to catch the snow before it becomes a deep drift in my driveway. I hope it works.

High Style

This classic Southampton farm house got a glamorous make over with a mixture is Greek, Egyptian and Art Deco details.

Native Cedar Siding

It has become typical to place a porta-john at the construction sites of home renovations.This on a job site in our historic district is the first unit I have seen decorated. In this case the plastic siding was covered with cedar fencing for a more organic look.

Our village provides ladders for ice rescue if needed.

A Tree by any other name

London Plain Tree or Sycamore these grand trees have a great branch structure and fantastic bark. They also seem to be very tolerant of our occasional salt spray from the beach.

Yesterdays frosting of snow converted to an icy glaze after a mix of frost and freeze.  

More Snow

This was a classic coastal snow storm. With the tempature hovering just above the freezing point it came down as a wet snow that stuck to everything.

Frost Over

The ice on the pool made a very special reflection. A bit of Rothko and a bit of Albers.  

Color Field

I have a glass wedge on my window sill. On clear sunny days I get this chunk of rainbow about

2 inches tall by 3 inches wide. In the morning it moves along the wall near the bathroom door.
