This fun object washed up on the beach this week. I think it might be some form of fish egg?

Dune Farm
This complex pattern of snow fence is set out on the dunes face to trap blown sand and help to grow the dune. Old buried fence suggests this process is not new.

So VERY Blue
On some clean nights there is a time of night near sunset called the blue hour.
This was it's peak moment last night.

Next show-off
Early in the spring lineup but not first is forsythia. There seem to be a few versions in the area. I like the softer structure of this version where the blooms are not packed as tightly on the branch.

Barn Bones
This barn on the property of the Southampton Historical Society has been stripped down to it's skeleton. This barn does not use plywood sheathing like a modern home. The large shingles for siding are nailed to the horizontal ribs you see here.

Natural Order
The spring bloom cycle often starts off with Bradford Pears. I have also spotted wild pears blooming early at the edge of the woods.

Break Through
All day yesterday a storm was building. Last night the storm hit with lots of wind and rain. Late today there are signs of the clouds breaking up. This hole in the sky was a good sign to me.

Room with a View
This ocean front home in Water Mill has lost a lot of dune this winter. I expect the views from inside the home must be very dramatic.

Splash of White
I can not think of another shingle style home that has had the underside painted a contrasting white like this.
I think the look is very smart.

Good Gates
The posts of this gateway reflect the details on the main house. Both this property and Mount Vernon in Virginia feature wood homes that are detailed like stone.

East Hampton Perfection
The luxury of this property is the vast lawn. Just a nice clean simple lawn, a shigle home and a few local trees. So simple and just right.

Village Signature
As one enters East Hampton Village there are a few homes around the highway that are iconic images for their Village. In my mind this is one of those homes.

Further East
It is very flat on the east end, I can think of any rivers out here. Windmills had been a popular source of energy on the east end until modern alternatives came along. This handsome windmill is at the historic Mulford Farm in East Hampton.

Classic Homes
There are a few blocks in Quogue that just have one great house after another.
This home looked perfect to me.

Rush Hour
Re constructing the dunes is a big project to get in order before the beaches are full of people. Here big yellow trucks deliver sand to where it is needed.

Corner Details
Like Mount Vernon the shingle home has stone detailing made out of wood. The staggered white wood quoins on the corners and key stones on the arched windows are exceptional.
