Peek-A-Boo

Passing down Cameron Street one gets a glimpse of this classic stucco home as it peeks over the hedge.

Poke Salad

Poke weed grows up fast each year from old roots. Most parts of the plant are toxic to humans. The purple berries that appear late in the summer are popular with birds, but make for messy droppings that can stain.

Fox Hunt

Driving along Sucttle Hole Road in Bridgehampton I was supprised to see a fox out in the middle of this field at 11:30 in the morning. By the time I got the camera out he had moved off a bit, I still got a shot.

Cross Bracing

With just the ribs in place this new building uses strong steel cables to keep it from blowing over. The sheathing of a building provides diagonal strength. When the skin goes on the outside it will triangulate the frame making the whole building strong.

Industry Leader

In 1980 I made my first visit to the Green Thumb in Water Mill. In those days no other farm stand had the rich selection of fresh herbs and other gourmet treats we find at many farm stands & markets today. I found it intersting that world famous gourmet Craig Claiborne was helpful to the Halsey family in the early days of setting up the shop. The Green Thumb is still a great source for local farm produce from certified organic farms.

This island of landscape is at the east side of Bowden Square. The sun was hitting this tree just right this morning.

Don't Eat The Apple

While picking apples we came across this apple that has been invaded by wasps. We chose to leave this one on the tree.

Fall Harvest

These modern applae trees are only about 9 FT tall and packed with fruit. On Monday we will bag up the fruit and send it off to Southampton Human Resouces to be passed on to those in need.

This is a House

Wood shingle homes are the prevelant architecture here in the Hamptons. These homes are at times reffered to as cottages even if they are over 5,000 SQ FT in size. This mid size estate is built of Lime Stone over a steel frame, with a free floating steel and glass stair at the entry. Now that is a house!

Just for Me

Standing at the edge while taking photos of the surf it often seems that waves are directed just at me. This time I jumped back in time but looking down the beach here it does seem that the wave made a reach just for me. You can see where I walked on.

Old Town Beach

Many of the large ocean front estates have very solid masonry garden walls.
This one is at the bend where Gin Lane meets Old Town Road.

Purple Bombs

Poke Weed grows up very fast in the summer season. The plant has a deep tap roots the winters over and is hard to pull. In the fall purple berries and foilage are very nice but the berries can make nasty stains if stepped on or eaten by birds.

Stormy Weather

Just a day at the beach here.

Photo Test Viewing

I print a few of the photos from my blog. I like to print them large, about 6 FT long. These are the test prints. The photos on the right show the full image. The prints on the left are test sections at the intended size. I have the printing and mounting work done in NYC at Laumont. The finished prints will be mounted in plexi.

Bugged Out

It must be getting late in the season for this dramatic bug. Early Sci Fi films come to mind when I see these insects.

Hampton Downs

The grasses along the highway are now allowed to grow out. What was once a an even green strech is now a rich texture of multi toned shags.

With a Twist

When two waves meet you get a burst of energy and a spurt into the air. Best not to be swiming where this isgoing on.

Time Warp

I stepped into this sea captains house in Sag Harbor Village. Things have changed very slowly in this home.
