What a perfect wave on this nice sunny weekend.

Paint it White

The bricks are painted white. The inside of the glass is painted white. I think the effect is very nice. The color of "clear glass" is very pleasant.

Twin Peaks

I liked this handsome pair of chimneys on this Water Mill beach front house.

Spot of Color

After a mild winter spring has had a hard time shaking off the cold. These flowers popped up in the center of the main flower bed beside the pool.

French Style

The mansard roof first appeared in European cities where homes were taxed based to the number of stories in the structure. By tucking upper floors in the roof line home owners sought to reduce their tax rate.

Mirror Image

I like how the cloud's reflection shows in this waves wake.

Spot in thr Sun

This sea side bench is showing a nice history of paint colors thanks to the effect of wind and weather.

One for All

I was amazed to note that the window treatment for all of these windows match. I am not sure if the aqua tint to the windows is a custom shade color or the result of special glass.

Tidal Pools

I have been on about this before. Our beach has a new shape, the beach is lower, but also more gradual as it enters the water. If things do not change too much we will have a much wider surf line than in past and fun little sandbars creating tidal pools. Great fun for smaller swimmers.

One Man's Vision

Many property owners in the Hamptons have a very specific vision of what their dream beach house might look like. This romantic Mediterranean villa has rested in the dunes of Southampton for a long time now.

Quogue

The Q in Quogue is for quiet, tucked off the mail roads between Westhampton and Hampton Bays. Quogue takes pride in being the least commercial of any of the Hamptons. Quogue also has fine beaches.

On the Edge

The protective wall set in the dune of this home is still well submerged in the sand.

Sea Wall

We have learned this winter that many of the sand dunes here have had steel walls buried in them to protect the homes behind in the event of a storm. This sea wall had started to show last year, but nothing like this.

Missed by an Inch

This tree fell just inches from hitting the house. The cut up trunk set out in the line it fell in almost has a stop action quality stretched out in a line marching toward the deck's edge.

High Tide

At the last winter storm the surf was lapping at the base of the sea wall that was exposed by Hurricane Sandy.

The West out East

The erosion pattern here at Flying Point Beach is more like what I would expect to see in a national park out west.

Nice Approach

I would sure like a view like this when I got to the front door of my house.

Wash Out

The line on this sea wall gives a hint to what all has been washed away this season.

The Beach that Roared

Today I was about a mile north of the highway with friends from the office. As we walked around the property we could hear the ocean roaring. We must have been almost five miles from the beach, so we took a drive down and had a look.  

Warm Skies

Today's bright warm day reminds me that the trees will be in leaf again soon.

Classic Form

The proportions of this home in Sag Harbor seem just about perfect to my eye, and what a view.

Tonight at 25 JOBS

A new Arts Center is forming up at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton.

These are a few shots from the dress rehearsal for the show opening this Sunday.

Sky Blue

I love a good cheery sky blue paint on the porch ceiling.

Rip Tide

                                  With another winter storm in the area the ocean was all torn up.
                                 No doubt the beach will have a whole new shape after this round.

The New Geography

The beach is now lower, and flatter. This makes the sand to surf transition more gradual. We now have more sand bars and a long roll of surf breaks. We also now have tidal pools like this one at Fowlers Beach.

Changes

When one gets to the beach it is hard to comprehend what is different. These post had been buried under many feet of sand that have now been washed away.

Coming Soon

This Sunday Hard Sparks is producing two shows at the old museum now the Southampton Arts Center at 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton Village, New York.

Sag Harbor, harbor

Empty now, this view will be crammed with boats come summer time. Sag Harbor was the shared port of Southampton & East Hampton. Some locals call it he Harbor, as in- I was up in The Harbor last night.

Spring Shopping

Long stem blue iris are a sigh of spring in the local shops. I do not see the same flowers about in fall or winter. These have long been a favorite of mine.

Organic Design

The roof line of this home is designed to emulate the line of a sand dune.
